The network concentrates especially on the following forms of collaboration and research activities:
- Temporary exchange of staff from the various organizations to carry out research in the institutions which belong to the network;
- Exchanges of information including library material and other research tools;
- Joint teaching programmes;
- Student exchanges including involvement in short- or long-term research programmes;
- Meetings, conferences, conventions and workshops;
- Preserving and circulating ancient scientific documents and historical material;
- Reproduction and dissemination of the documentation and of the results of research, according to the principles of the Berlin Declaration (see http://oa.mpg.de/berlin-prozess/berliner-erklarung/);
- Creation and sharing of digital tools for study and consultation purposes.
